Duties/Responsibilities
- Work with the Development Committee and Executive Director to continuously enhance and implement an effective development plan and accompany annual operating budget.
- Manage operational implementation of the development plan to ensure that the organization’s long-term and annual development plans and strategies are being met and appropriately assessed.
- Coordinate and oversee the planning, design, scheduling, and budgeting of all donor appeals, including annual giving campaigns.
- Supervise the Development Assistant and Development Intern positions.
- In consultation with communications staff, establish and maintain consistent messaging to inform potential, current and previous donors, volunteers, and staff of priority needs of DACOR Bacon House Foundation (DBHF).
- In consultation with membership and events staff, enhance synergies across all aspects of DACOR and the DBHF to maximize charitable donations by members and attendees.
- Implement appropriate recognition programs that foster giving at targeted levels.
- Maintain effective donor relations through timely acknowledgement letters, special mailings, telephone and in-person contact at special events and other meetings. This should include building relationships with community stakeholders as appropriate.
- Coordinate the donor cultivation/stewardship process, involving Committee members, Board members, other volunteers and staff.
- Work with volunteers and staff to plan and coordinate special fundraising and donor recognition events
- Engage volunteers to assist with special development projects.
- Oversee and maintain a database of donors, to include efforts to identify and research potential donors and generate reports on efficacy of diversified development strategies.
- Other duties in support of the organization’s development efforts, as assigned.
- Track and report on donations to the annual giving program.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in a mid-level fundraising position for a nonprofit, preferably for a foundation affiliated with a membership association
- Experience in international affairs, historic house museums, social clubs or related organizations a plus
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Energetic and self-directed with strong timemanagement and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, the abilityto collaborate with and motivate volunteers and staff
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience with planned giving programs
- Experience in special eventsplanning and management
- Basic familiarity with tax laws and regulations affecting charitable donations
- Knowledge of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office, DonorPerfect, web-based programs, and social media
