Key Responsibilities:

Credit Assessment and Approval

Conduct thorough credit assessments for loan applications by Evaluating the financial health of borrowers by analyzing income, debt levels, and liquidity

Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses.

Approve credit facilities based on creditworthiness and risk analysis as per approval level limits

Calls client for verifications to confirm loan and client information

Analyze all loans that are sent to the head office credit committee for approval

Presenting loans in Head Office Credit Committee (HOCC), preparing minutes & share to members for approval. Send the minutes to branch for filing.

Disbursement

Plan and coordinate with Branch Manager on disbursements of the day

Ensure loan contracts and disbursement forms are dully filled and signed before disbursements

Ensure disbursement documents list is well prepared, complete and correct

Coordinates with Customer relationship officer on Customer Verification and Filling

Verify accuracy of information in loan contracts before disbursement

Does customer disbursement check, by observing limits

Ensure that proper exceptions are granted as per credit manual and /or memo

Ensure Credit Reference Bureau Reports for clients and guarantors are in place

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in credit assessments

Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely regulatory reports

Stay updated on industry trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.

Submission of credit reference data to the CRB and Central Bank as needed

Ensure that credit risk exposures are managed within the established limits in the credit policy and risk appetite statement

Documentation and Reporting

Ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance of loan documentation

Ensure to capture and register exceptions as listed in the credit hub tracker for performance monitoring purpose

Register all loans returned to branch and update a loan submission tracker

Inform the branches of all rejected loan application for incomplete information / documentation or poor credit quality

Prepare monthly reports indicating types/nature of discrepancies noted and the responsible branch and customer relationship officer.

Assist in the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures, and risk assessment models to improve overall credit management

Regularly identify capacity-limited staff and report or arrange for a refresher training or orientation

Report any abnormal cases, fraudulent practices or malpractices or any serious misconducts/behaviors performed by others (peers, subordinates, supervisors etc) to the appropriate person (direct supervisor or senior management team members of VisionFund Zambia). Register the potential fraud in fraud register system

Identify and report immediately gaps and potential optimization sections for all related manuals/ guidelines (policies, processes/ procedures, tools, forms, reports, etc) of loan origination process.

Ensure submission of all regulatory reports and Alignment/Correctness of reports generated by MIS.

Prepare daily reports and share to Credit Manager or Chief Credit Officer

Collaboration

Collaborate with other departments, such as sales teams, to gather and analyze necessary information for credit evaluation

Collaborate with Officers on post-disbursement loan documentation.

Work closely with the Credit Manager and Chief Credit officer to implement corrective measures for identified credit risks

Develop and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of credit terms and conditions

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders

Audit and Compliance Reports

Facilitate & cooperate with audit & Compliance reviews

Follow up on issues raised by Auditors and Risk and Compliance teams as a result of gaps identified due to disbursement gaps

Reschedule/Restructure/Refinance

Make analyst of submitted proposals for reschedule/restructure/refinance and prepare the loan for HOCC

Facilitate completion of restructure/reschedule of loans in core banking system after approvals and ensure clients and guarantors signs the new contracts

Miscellaneous

Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

Bachelors degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, or related field.

Masters Degree will be added advantage

Solid understanding of financial principles, credit regulations, and risk assessment methodologies.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years working experience in credit or operations at field level

Branch management will be added advantage

Demonstrated proficiency in financial procedures and applications.

Understanding of banking practices and policies.

Experience in credit operations and loan assessment.

Knowledge & Skills and Abilities

Good communication, writing & presentation skills.

Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent analytical skills.

Team working and Interpersonal skills
