The Team
The Role
Based in EMEEA, the Senior Officer, Financing Partnerships will explore, develop and manage external financing strategies in support of foundation priorities with select donors, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), as well as philanthropic and private sector investors, to expand the financing sources across our markets.
You will strategize and map priority needs to potential sources of capital for partnerships and external financing, develop and structure opportunities, then lead collaborative deal teams to deliver. The position reports to the Director, Europe , and requires close collaboration with EMEEA Country Engagement Leads, the Philanthropic Partnerships Team, the Finance team and other GPA teams, as well as regional offices; it will also engage actively with the foundations Program Strategy Teams.
This is a limited-term position (LTE) for 24 months , based at the foundation office in London . Relocation will not be provided.
What youll do
Opportunity Development : Engage with the Finance, Philanthropic Partnerships, Program Advocacy and Program Strategy Teams and leadership, to understand external financing needs, priorities, and advise on opportunities to use non-grant finance for impact.
Relationship Management : Cultivate, maintain and own strong relationships with priority institutions (e.g. DFIs, corporate foundations) and develop new ones across the EMEEA region, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring a high level of partner satisfaction. Facilitate partnership activities and serve as the subject-matter expert on partner priorities, programs, and people aiming at brokering partnerships.
Partnership Execution : Shape and execute partnership approaches that align with our foundations strategy, fostering meaningful relationships with donors, DFIs, private sector, philanthropies and other potential investors. Lead and facilitate collaborative deal teams to drive deal delivery: Define key transaction terms that are both realistic and ambitious. Negotiate and find consensus with external counterparts on transaction structures. Support and propose materials for internal approval by foundation leadership. Track and support programmatic delivery of partnerships/deals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work in partnership with Program Advocacy and Program Strategy Teams to integrate partner goals and priorities, facilitating collaboration and ensuring a coordinated approach to partnership management.
Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution : Proactively address any challenges or issues in partnerships, providing solutions to maintain and strengthen the relationship. Provide personalized, high-level support to top partners, removing obstacles and resolving challenges.
Measurement and Reporting: Evaluate partnership performance, providing strategic insights, actionable recommendations, and data-driven assessments to measure success and drive improvement. Maintain systems to document partner interactions, agreements, and outcomes to ensure transparency and accountability.
Sector Engagement : Represent the foundation at conferences, events, and meetings to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones, serving as an ambassador for the foundation.
Leadership Support : Assist EMEEA and GPA leadership in evolving the external financing strategy, delivering priority projects and achieving objectives across the division. Prepare and write briefs for foundation leadership and wider circulation, synthesizing complex topics and making clear recommendations.
Your Experience
Undergraduate degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in business, finance, science, government relations, or related field.
Extensive experience strategizing, pitching and working/partnering with key institutions, including governments, DFIs and private sector, in EMEEA markets.
Experience with development finance, leveraging blended or non-grant financial instruments for development impact, and/or managing a multimillion investment portfolio.
Experience leading multi-partners financial transactions execution from the definition of terms through negotiation and signing.
Solid financial analysis, financial modelling and risk analysis on projects.
Experience in global health or development preferred, and/or in-depth knowledge of main issues and trends particularly affecting LMICS.
Strong project management experience with excellent planning, execution, and analytical skills; with ability to independently develop a structure and strategy to address complex problems.
Experience in developing and managing strong partnerships and relationships with senior decision makers, and in building consensus.
Demonstrate critical and creative thinking, excellent writing, framing and structuring, business/data analytics and public presentation skills across technical topics.
Proven ability to successfully drive to action across large institutions, range of seniority levels and in different cultural contexts.

Ability to travel up to 30% internationally.
Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
