UNRWA’s Information Management unit at Headquarters in Amman supports the Agency’s operations across the Near East through the development and maintenance of information systems, data management, and digital transformation initiatives. Full Job Description

Result of Service

The role will be responsible for the day-to-day development activities of the application development team. The developer will be responsible for the design, testing, development and deployment of eUNRWA solutions, web applications and interfaces with internal and external partner systems, services, and projects within the overall software development lifecycle. The incumbent will coordinate with other DITID units to provide technical solutions and implement the software solutions for high performance, optimized and efficient solutions as required by all business processes and in compliance with the defined standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Outputs/Tasks include but not limited to:

  • Supports the technical handover of eUNRWA infrastructure built on Azure cloud app services, Kubernetes, Azure SQL
  • Performs application systems administration tasks including MS SQL server database software, software patch management, software upgrades.
  • Conducts necessary systems health and performance monitoring checks ensuring optimal functionality and risk mitigation.
  • Provides maintenance and monitoring works, ensuring system availability, efficient performance, and resource optimization.
  • prepares and presents technical reports on application performance, operational issues, and risk mitigation actions.
  • Keeps up-to-date documentations of system inventory, client configuration and connectivity instructions, backup/restore instructions, and applicable disaster recovery instructions.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational and security risks, contributing to business continuity and reliable service delivery during and after the transition period
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and user manuals.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and provide regular progress updates.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications/special skills

University degree from accredited educational institution in computer sciences or information technology or other related discipline. – Minimum of 6 years progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure and systems administration. – A working knowledge and strong experience of MS Windows Server Operating System and MS SQL database software & administration. – Experience with DevOps and Azure Cloud computing

  • Experience with building and using Docker Containers or AKS – Experience in Azure B2C and Entra ID. Knowledge in custom flows is desirable – Experience in Power Platform, mobile apps, Dynamics365 is advantageous – Strong understanding of networking concepts, virtualization, security and containerization technologies – Strong understanding of DevOps pipelines for CI/CD – Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell, etc.).

Languages

English and Arabic are the working languages of UNRWA. For this assignment, fluency in both Arabic and English are required.

Additional Information

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

  • The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA Amman – Jordan.
  • The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration that is equivalent to A16 Step 1 amounting to JOD 1,190.43 for every fully completed month.
  • The duration of the Contract is up to 12 months, and the possibility of extension is subject to the availability of funds and continuing need and satisfactory performance.
  • As part of Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID)and digital workspace the role works under the overall supervision of the Product Lead eUNRWA.
