The duration of the consultancy is 6 months, renewable subject to budget availability and satisfactory performance

Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent: 1. Carries out preliminary and detailed design for architectural and urban projects including open areas, green areas, and public spaces, and the architectural designs including rehabilitation and construction works for shelters and any other identified intervention or projects resulting from the Camp Improvement Planning process in accordance with Agencys policies, design criteria, standards, local and international codes of practice, utilizing relevant software. 2. Contributes to the tender documents preparation, including specifications to cover special design needs; identifies non-standard items, to improve the quality of implemented works, and writes relevant description to be included Develops architectural designs reflecting community and relevant stakeholders needs and requirements such as partners, host government and meeting UNRWA design standards. 3. Follows up with the external consultants, as required in producing architectural and engineering designs of the project; provides technical advice and carries out special designs amendment or extensions for different projects, as required. 4. Produce detailed Architectural design packages supporting in the tender development. 5. Coordinates with different staff members within FICIP and UNRWA departments to produce the architectural designs in full compliance with UNRWA standards and guidelines. 6. Provides input to the development of Camp Improvement Plan which includes Community Development Plan, Urban Improvement Plan, Action Plan and concept project proposals for identified priority projects. 7. Produce reports based on the analysis of data and needs, related to the architectural works within the project for design works and decision making. 8. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
A university degree in architecture / architectural engineering from an accredited university/ institution. At least 4 years of relevant experience, of which at least two years in designing developmental projects. Experience with architectural design software and computer aided design for 2D and 3D production, such as AutoCAD, and other relevant software.
Languages
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic
