The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation’s leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
The Advocacy Operations Intern will support key functions of the Advocacy team by assisting with operational, legislative, and campaign-related tasks. This role is ideal for a detailoriented individual interested in advocacy, public policy, and legislative affairs. The intern will contribute to maintaining essential internal resources, developing campaign materials, and supporting state-level grassroots efforts.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the maintenance and organization of the Lawmaker Profile Library.
Support updates to the Cancer Action Day Toolkit to ensure accuracy and usability for advocates.
Participate in and assist with planning sessions for state legislative campaigns.
Develop materials and resources aimed at increasing the effectiveness of legislative campaigns.
Collaborate with Senior Managers to provide operational support to state Grassroots Managers.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
Familiarity with legislative or policy-related work is a plus.
Experience with Every Action and Quorum is preferred but not required.
Position Requirements:
Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 1st July 24th, 2026, at 37.5 hours per week.
Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester.

The hourly rate is $18.40/hour. The final candidate’s relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
