Job Summary

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to administrative management within Institute on Aging’s important work in international cooperation and sustainable development. Working in United States, you will collaborate with international colleagues and partners to address global challenges and promote sustainable development. Your responsibilities will include: Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding as needed, while ensuring safety within the ADHC Additionally, you will: Escort participants to external medical appointments, offering and providing assistance with navigation and other necessary tasks such as transferring, toileting, and dressing as indicated. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition up to 35 lbs.

Ability to reach, bend and walk

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding as needed, while ensuring safety within the ADHC

Escort participants to external medical appointments, offering and providing assistance with navigation and other necessary tasks such as transferring, toileting, and dressing as indicated.

Provide behavioral and emotional supervision or support to participants, including reality orientation and reminders to follow care team recommendations.

Regularly report observed changes in participants condition to the Lead and/or Center Supervisor.

Report health or safety concerns to the Lead and/or Center Supervisor in a timely manner.

Assist the activity team with assigned activities as needed.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in direct care areas.

Complete administrative tasks, including reports, documentation, recordkeeping, mandatory training, and attendance at required meetings.

Follow safe practices, precautions, and proper body mechanics while assisting participants.

Other responsibilities pursuant to the agreement between IOA and SEIU Local 2015, as assigned.

Van Escort Responsibilities

Report to the designated parking lot at the start of each shift.

Assist participants during transport to the ADHC, working with the assigned driver to ensure safe loading and unloading from the van

Support the delivery of participant meals, medications, and other supplies as needed.

Center Worker Responsibilities

Report to the ADHC at the start of each shift.

Assist with preparing the ADHC for participant arrival, including preparing refreshments, preparing participant supplies, and greeting participants upon arrival.

Additional Duties if Assigned as Lead

Monitor and record daily ADHC attendance, reporting any discrepancies between actual and planned attendance to the Center Supervisor.

Ensure dayrooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked with needed supplies, coordinating restocks as needed.

Completes or assigns daily testing and logging of supplies and equipment to ensure safety (i.e. testing WanderGuard elopement prevention system, testing and logging water temperatures, etc.)

Assign tasks to staff based on the daily needs of the dayroom and participant care.

EDUCATION:

Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, and/or equivalent experience working with older adults.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least one years work experience working with elderly or disabled adults.

Sincere interest and willingness to work with frail elders in a multilingual, multicultural environment.

Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team with initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and flexibility.

Knowledge of the community served.

Ability to communicate and speak clearly in English.

Agency-paid health exam & TB clearance must be completed before first assignment.

Background clearance prior to client assignment

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and provide documentation in accordance with federal I-9 requirements

COMPENSATION:

Range: $ 23 – $24/Hourly

This amount is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on actual experience, education and other factor

This range does not include any additional equity, benefits, or other non-monetary compensation which may be included.
