Who we are looking for:
Internship activities may include:
Benefits: Conduct a review of ASCO’s Education Support Program and make recommendations for enhancement
Learning and Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive summer engagement strategy using channels drive employee participation in professional development and learning initiatives; support pre and post sessions activities for select ASCO learning sessions; and support Engagement Council activities
Operations and HRIS: Participate in HRIS process re-engineering and requirements gathering; and a conduct research study on pay transparency and how to align the organization with evolving legislation
Talent Acquisition Support activities to contribute to ASCOs EVP; review ASCOs recruitment sources, optimization, and ROI and present recommendations; and contribute to re-designing Talent Acquisitions internal learning sessions
Required qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
Strong interest in Human Resources and desire to learn about different functions
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
Hands-on experience working with HRIS and/or Smartsheet is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong data analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
Willingness to enhance skills
Duration: 10 weeks during the summer June 8, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This internship is 37.5 hours per week.
Compensation: This summer internship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.
Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
