LCR is excited to announce the creation ofBizGrow Central, a collaborative space where new and established small business owners will be able to learn together, access vital resources, and develop the skills and resilience they need to thrive.
Centrally located in downtown Boston and set to open in 2026, BizGrow Central will be housed in space that is within, but separate from, LCRs main office. It will offer a range of programs and servicesfrom legal advice and mentorship to networking opportunitiesin a welcoming space designed to meet business owners needs. We are giving small business owners the time, space, and tools to realize their dreams.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR) is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven individual to help run BizGrow Central. The BizGrow Central Manager will be an integral part of LCRs staff, with a primary responsibility of managing the operations of BizGrow Central. Once the space opens in Fall of 2026, the BizGrow Central Manager will oversee the daily operations of our co-working space, ensuring a productive and supportive environment for everyone using the space. This role involves managing space logistics, fostering a professional, productive, and collaborative community, and implementing programs and services that align with LCRs mission.
Prior to the official opening of the space, the BizGrow Central Manager will provide administrative assistance to staff, manage office tasks, and prepare for the opening of the space, including putting into place systems and protocols for the new space, coordinating the move to the new space, and getting the space ready for its soft launch and grand opening.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the BizGrow Central space, including onboarding new co-working entrepreneurs, setting up the space for workshops, activities and events, including some engagements during evening hours, and creating and managing schedules for meeting rooms, event spaces, and other resources (60% of your time);
- Interfacing with small business clients, including connecting entrepreneurs to internal and external resources, facilitating requests for legal assistance, and facilitating and organizing workshops and legal clinics with outside experts (30% of your time); and
- Providing general office support and tackling responsibilities such as maintaining the space neat and organized; ordering office supplies; contacting and interfacing with vendors; and interfacing with entrepreneurs to troubleshoot and make sure the space is satisfying their needs (10% of your time).
This role requires outstanding customer service, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKS:
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE DAY-TO-DAY TASKS
- Oversee daily operations of BizGrow Central, including space setup, clean-up, and member onboarding, orientation, and problem-solving.
- Foster a welcoming, professional, productive, and inclusive environment for everyone who uses the BizGrow Central space.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day issues or concerns by addressing needs and concerns as they arise.
- Organize and facilitate community events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
- Ensure that events and workshops take place seamlessly in person and virtually.
- Develop and implement programs and services that support everyone who uses the BizGrow Central space, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with LCRs mission.
- Create and maintain a calendar and schedule for meeting rooms, event spaces, and other resources.
- Collect and review feedback to continuously improve the BizGrow Central and co-working experience.
SUCCESSFULLY ADVANCE STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
- Collaborate with LCRs BizGrow and management teams to align BizGrow Centrals activities with organizational goals.
- Attend weekly LCR staff meetings to share BizGrow Centrals progress, stay abreast of LCRs work in other priority areas, and ensure alignment with LCR mission.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth, including new potential partnerships.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to enhance the co-working experience and to promote the use of the BizGrow Central space.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be extremely hard-working, task-oriented, highly self-motivated, and passionate about civil rights and racial justice. As a small and continuously growing organization, team members wear many hats and responsibilities may evolve over time. Comfort with change and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected needs are essential.
