Duties and Responsibilities

United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Law Division works with international and non-governmental organizations, national and local governments,businesses and industry to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices that are cleaner and safer, incorporate environmental costs, use natural resources efficiently, reduce pollution and risks for humans and the environment, and enable the implementation of Conventions and International Agreements. UNEP OzonAction Branch under the Law Division is one of the four Implementing Agencies under the Multilateral Fund (MLF) for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The Government of Grenada through its National Ozone Unit (NOU) is implementing the project Preparation of national inventory of banks of waste-controlled substances and development of a national plan for the management of these substances (decision 91/66) (National Inventory of Banks). The project is being implemented with defined objectives, including national data collection to enable the Government to have comprehensive information to inform the development of an inventory of banks of used or unwanted controlled substances and a national plan to manage the banks. The project contains a component for Project management and Reporting, which requires the recruitment of a National Consultant. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the OzonAction Montreal Protocol Programme Management Officer and in close collaboration with the NOU of Grenada, the consultant will: (i) Provide administrative support to UNEPs Independent National Consultant for data collection under the National Inventory of Banks (ii) Lead stakeholder consultations to obtain stakeholders input, support, and validation for the projects deliverables, including the Inventory and National Plan, closely with the UNEPs International Consultant preparing the Inventory and National Plan, and the Independent National Consultant collecting data under the project (iii) Support the NOU in establishing and coordinating a national expert team in accordance with the projects requirements. (iv) Support all stakeholder consultations, meetings and other events, to gain stakeholder approval and disseminate the results and technical information regarding the project, through the preparation of project reports. This should take into account the Multilateral Funds gender mainstreaming policy and be endorsed by the Government and UNEP as per the SSFA between the Government and UNEP. The consultant will work under the direct and overall guidance and supervision of the OzonAction Montreal Protocol Regional Coordinator and in close collaboration with the NOU of Grenada.

Qualifications/special skills

Completion of a recognized high school diploma is required. Demonstrate a minimum of three years experience working with the NOU at the national level, showcasing an understanding of the refrigeration and air conditioning sector is required Demonstrate experience in the field of project management or a related field. This experience should include a strong understanding of relevant areas and expertise in the subject matter Is required A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in project implementation and reporting(e.g. preparing progress reports, organizing stakeholder consultations, workshops) at the national level Is required

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other UN language is desirable.
