Hours: Full Time

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Since its founding in 1977, Marin Horizon has been providing a challenging and robust academic program combined with character-enhancing life skills. Marin Horizon is a place of creative, active learning built around our commitment to developing each students confident voice. Marin Horizon serves about 300 students from toddler through grade eight and is located in Mill Valley, CA.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Associate Teacher Program is designed to familiarize the associate teacher with theoretical and practical aspects of classroom teaching. Associate teachers are assigned to one or two grade levels in kindergarten – 4th grade and will be partnered with Lead Teachers who mentor the associates development as an educator. Associate teachers have the option to reapply once their two-year term is complete but are not guaranteed placement. Employment assignments are reassessed and renewed (if appropriate) annually and grade-level placements are subject to change. Associate teachers are expected to attend all weekly faculty meetings, monthly associate teacher meetings, and periodic pedagogical workshops given on campus. They are also encouraged to take advantage of o-campus opportunities for professional development.
TEACHER DEVELOPMENT
Under the guidance of the lead teacher and Associate Teacher Coordinator, and through meetings and workshops, the associate teachers develop these important skills:
- Observing, assessing, and supervising students
- Previewing and selecting curricular materials
- Developing appropriate and successful teaching methods
- Planning and implementing lessons
- Managing students and classrooms
- Conferencing and writing reports
- Job search skills and portfolio/resume development
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required
- Strong preference for individuals in teacher credentialing and/or advanced degree programs in education
- Desire to pursue lead-teaching opportunities
- Relevant teaching experience or experience working with children
- Commitment to professional growth, reflective practice, and growth mindset
- Strong ability to work collaboratively
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices
Salary and Benefits
- Associate Teacher Salary: $50,000-55,000
