Result of Service
Strengthened campaign to raise awareness and mobilize global public support for racial equality in the context of the 25th anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.

Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant will support the Anti-Racial Discrimination and Communications and Public Mobilisation Sections in the following tasks:
- Continue implementing the campaign to raise awareness and mobilize global public support for racial equality.
- Lead on content development and outreach advocacy, including audiovisual content, in line with Human Rights Council Resolution 60/16.
- Updating of materials for publication, as outlined in the aforementioned resolution, notably the programme of activities for the Second International Decade for People of African Descent and an updated version of United against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.
- Organize an information campaign for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.
- Develop key messages for International Days relating to combating racism (e.g. 21 March, 25 March, 25 July, 31 August).
- Produce communications products (stories, social media content, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, etc.), with a special focus on audiovisual content.
- Monitor and analyze: (1) current events, public opinion, and media trends related to racial discrimination; advise on appropriate responses; (2) challenges faced by individuals and groups facing racial discrimination on social media; (3) effectiveness and outreach of communications products.
- Promote media engagement through positive examples and storytelling.
- Initiate and sustain relationships with key constituencies (universities, civil society, DGC, field presences).
- Update of the content of the OHCHR webpages on combatting racism.
Qualifications/special skills
First degree in communication, journalism, marketing or related field Strong drafting and oral skills; Experience developing and implementing campaigns and human rights communications strategies; Experience working on audiovisual content.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
