Job Summary

This Programme Management Officer position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate critical programmes within United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s international cooperation and sustainable development portfolio. Based in United States, you will oversee programme implementation, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure the delivery of high-quality results that advance the organization’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and coordination with government partners, civil society, and other UN agencies. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with strong leadership skills, programme management expertise, and a commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, environmental studies, sustainable development or a related field is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree..
  • Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.
  • Experience: Experience working with Member States, the United Nations system, or non-governmental stakeholders at the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council on issues related to sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and/or climate change is required.
  • Experience: Experience working with the least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing States on issues related to sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and/or climate change is desirable..
