Job Summary

This technical leadership consultancy offers a unique opportunity to drive urban resilience initiatives across Latin America, focusing on climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction. As a Technical Leader in Urban Resilience with United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), you will spearhead innovative projects that help cities adapt to climate change, reduce vulnerability to natural disasters, and build sustainable urban systems. Your work will involve developing resilience frameworks, conducting vulnerability assessments, facilitating multi-stakeholder partnerships, and implementing cutting-edge solutions for climate-resilient urban development. This role is perfect for senior professionals with proven expertise in urban planning, climate adaptation, disaster risk management, or environmental engineering who want to make a significant impact on urban sustainability in the region.

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: A 1st level university degree in Social Studies, International Studies, Urban or Regional Planning, Architecture, Development Studies, or similar fields is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree is desirable.
  • Academic Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Good teamwork and drive for results is desirable.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required. – Knowledge of other languages (French or Italian) would be an asset.

  • The Action will also contribute to the European Commission’s Action Plan for Resilience in Crisis Prone Countries 2013-2020 and The EU Approach to Resilience: Learning from Food Security Crises.
  • The project will work with local government institutions, to plan, coordinate, implement and support the various outlined activities.
  • The primary and most direct beneficiaries will be local stakeholders, city authorities and civil society.
  • Women, children and other at-risk groups, often disproportionately affected by crises situations, will be engaged and receive additional attention.
