Job Summary

This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat)’s mission in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning. Working in Egypt, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. This role offers the flexibility of consultancy work while contributing to meaningful international development outcomes with global impact.

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree (Bachelors degree or equivalent) in urban planning, civil or construction engineering, architecture, arts, political science, international development, or another relevant field is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Academic Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in urban planning, international development projects, programme management, advocacy and partnerships, public relations, and/or communications is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Experience in organizing webinars, workshops, or regional events, including logistical and content support is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: Experience in marketing, communication strategy, events and conferences management is an asset.
  • Academic Qualifications: Strong understanding of urban development issues and sustainable cities is an asset..
  • Fluency in English and Arabic language is required.
  • Language: Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage..
  • Prepare and finalize all required post-WUF13 reports and related documentation.

Skills

  • Dissemination of WUF12 outcomes, share WUF12 key outcomes widely to enable uptake and application.
  • Facilitate the conduction of Country-level WUF13 promotion events, promote WUF13 across countries in the region where UN-Habitat has presence.
  • Coordinate WUF13 information sessions including regular regional info-sessions to raise awareness and build momentum, bringing together experts and stakeholders.
  • Support identification and nomination of regional experts and speakers to ensure regional representation in WUF13 main sessions.
  • Support in conducting outreach and briefing sessions with sector ministries across countries in the region where UN-Habitat has presence.
  • Support UN-Habitat Egypt Country Office in the end-to-end implementation of Cairo Urban Week 2026, including programme coordination, venue and speaker arrangements, logistics and contracting, and ongoing partner follow-up to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
