Job Summary

This Programme Management Officer position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate critical programmes within United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development portfolio. Based in Kenya, you will oversee programme implementation, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure the delivery of high-quality results that advance the organization’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and coordination with government partners, civil society, and other UN agencies. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with strong leadership skills, programme management expertise, and a commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Law (public international law and/or international law), political sciences, economics, public administration or related field is required.
  • Academic Qualifications: A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Academic Qualifications: Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable..
  • Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • Experience: Experience in supporting intergovernmental environmental negotiations, including experience in drafting precise scripts and speaking notes for governing bodies, Presiding Officers, and Bureaux across diverse environmental processes is required.
