Job Summary
This consultancy provides an opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat)’s mission in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning. Working in Spain, you will apply your professional skills to address complex challenges in sustainable urban development, housing rights, and urban planning and support the organization’s programmatic objectives. This role offers the flexibility of consultancy work while contributing to meaningful international development outcomes with global impact.

Qualifications
- Academic Qualifications: -An advanced university degree in public affairs, political science, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant areas is required. – A minimum of two years of experience supporting project implementation and monitoring, advocacy and communications and the organization of global, multi-stakeholder events and meetings is required. – Demonstrated knowledge of SDG localization, evidenced
- Fluency in English is required for this specific consultancy.
- Fluency in German, Spanish is desired.
- Language: Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
Skills
- Support the implementation of Road to(s) processes, including the organization and reporting of local, regional, and global engagement, as well as the mobilization of local voices to participate in these processes.
- Support the organization of high-profile events, such as workshops, consultations, side events, and peer-to-peer learning activities, by coordinating logistics and participation, and preparing invitation letters, agendas, concept notes, talking points, speeches, and promotional materials.
- Support reporting of high-profile events by capturing key messages, lessons learned, and recommendations, ensuring they feed into Local2030 Coalition activities and inform UN and other relevant multilateral and regional sustainable development processes.
- Support the collection, systematization, and documentation of municipal solutions and experiences to inform multilateral and regional sustainable development processes. This includes researching and identifying locally driven policies and solutions and supporting their systematization and monitoring, ensuring accountability and alignment with global mechanisms and policy platforms.
- Support the coordination and facilitation of knowledge and policy-related processes, serving as a focal point to organize meetings, exchanges with relevant actors, track progress, and report on developments, flagging any challenges or bottlenecks in the process.
- Support the communication and promotion of the projects objectives, outcomes, and deliverables. This includes creating and managing an online shared space (e.g., Google Drive or SharePoint) to facilitate the organization and sharing of project information, as well as producing and posting relevant content on the Local2030 website and social media to promote the project.
- Support the organization of relevant meetings by managing logistics and participation coordination, preparing invitations, agendas, briefing materials, and minutes.
