Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in political/social science, international relations, law enforcement and/or business management (with a focus on security management). A first level University degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and two additional years of qualifying experience in a related area may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For th is job opening, English is required. French is desirable.   • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, including 4 years in a leadership role with proven cr is is management experience is required. Experience within the UN Security Management System, including at least 2 years in a peacekeeping mission is required. Experience in planning, design, implementation, and review of risk mitigation measures related to operations impacted by insecurity is required. Experience managing security units and staffing in multicultural, integrated missions in conflict or post conflict settings. Experience in Security planning and operations; Security risk assessments; Developing SOPs; conducting physical security assessments; Liaising with local authorities and law enforcement; Emergency communication systems; Cr is is and hostage incident management; Security administration and logistics is desirable. Experience using applied analytics, business intelligence, and information management to support strategy and decision making is desirable. Experience having served in the Great Lakes Region or Central Africa Region is desirable.
