Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in sustainable development, environmental sciences, economics, public policy, public administration, finance, natural resources management, engineering, law, social sciences or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. - A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in intergovernmental support in sustainable development, project or programme management, and policy-oriented work in a broad range of sustainable development issues is required. Experience in intergovernmental support, especially related to sustainable development is required. Experience with energy issues in the context of global sustainable development and climate change frame works, including in the context of vulnerable countries, is required. Experience in designing and delivering multi-stakeholder partnerships, capacity-building projects and analytical work on energy and its synergies with other SDGs is desirable.

Ability to conduct independent research and analys is on sustainable development topics, determine suitability, validity and accuracy of data provided by different sources. Knowledge of energys interlinkages with other issues such as ocean action, disabilities and development, climate action and the sustainable development of vulnerable countries such as SIDS. Shows skill in developing sources for data collection. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.
