Sustainable Bolivia is looking for a director for our research station on the Aquicuana Reserve, located near Riberalta, Bolivia. The director will manage the amazon research station and administrative affairs, including the volunteer program. They will be responsible for: designing and implementing a research internship program, developing research strategies and overseeing ongoing projects, assisting with the oversight of our local community environmental outreach program.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Oversee an average of 5 researchers/volunteers at any given time (up to 8)
  • Create and carry out recruitment and engagement strategies in English and Spanish
  • Review and respond to research/volunteer applications
  • Liaise with local communities as well as grass-roots organizations and institutions
  • Provide support, consultancy and advice to independent researchers
  • Lead and participate in fund-raising and promotional activities, including grant writing
  • Assist in the implementation of community development projects
  • Assist with community environmental education outreach

General Administration and Office Duties:

  • Respond to calls and emails from agencies, volunteers, and others
  • Maintain, update, and organize management materials
  • Collect and maintain research data about activities and projects completed
  • Assist with creation, translation, interpretation of written materials
  • Other administrative duties as assigned, related to the position

  • Advanced English and, at a minimum, intermediate Spanish

Provided:

  • A stipend of $600 per month.
  • Furnished cabin overlooking the Aquicuana Reserve Lake

Start Date:

Ideal start date is early Apirl
