Position Type: Part-time (20 hrs./week)

Compensation: 1500 to 2000 Euros per month, based on local cost of living

Start Date: The anticipated start date is as soon as possible, following the successful completion of the hiring process and a final decision being made.

The Major Donor Liaison’s primary role is to initiate and develop productive relationships with potential and existing major donors worldwide, working in coordination with the Development Director and other staff. This work may include:

  • Identifying prospective funders and major donors (primarily through personal networks and contacts, research, current funders, board member recommendations, and staff);
  • Introducing them to WBWs work and value-add;
  • Sharing consistent updates via email, phone, invitations to any events, conferences, or webinars;
  • Scheduling and leading meetings;
  • Leveraging connections to talk about WBWs work and assessing interest or gaining insight into how or when or if to ask for funding;
  • Staying up to date on changing priorities and portfolios of funders;
  • Attending funder conferences and webinars to get face-to-face time with funders and remain updated on their priorities;
  • Internally, staying up to date on WBW’s work in order to effectively identify prospective funders;
  • Working to upgrade current individual donors to become sustainable major donors;
  • Writing thank-you letters to donors.

Secondarily, this staff person will assist in other aspects of financial development including the helping to identify and submit European grants when relevant and available.

Additional responsibilities may include advising and assisting other staff and local chapters in matters related to fundraising and in fundraising for particular projects.

All staff attend a weekly staff meeting and, when needed, a monthly Board meeting.

A successful candidate should have:

  • experience in the development field and, in particular, in working with major donors, with a record of success in securing major donations;
  • experience working for an activist organization;
  • familiarity with and passion for the cause of abolishing war and establishing a just peace;
  • fluency in multiple languages, including English;
  • knowledge of laws and rules related to fundraising and grant application in Europe;

Experience with online management tools such as Action Network is highly desirable.

This staff person will work as an independent contractor, but World BEYOND War will provide 2 weeks paid vacation as well as paid sick leave and parental leave.
