JOB SUMMARY:

Join a mission-driven organization where your expertise in policy, precision editing, and administrative coordination will directly support the leadership of The Salvation Army. As the Senior Administrative & National Minute/Policy Specialist, you will be the cornerstone of our Commissioners Conference operationsensuring that national policies and minutes are accurate, timely, and professionally presented.

This is a high-impact role for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about organizational excellence and integrity.

Policy & Document Management

  • Leads the end-to-end process for National Minutes and Policiesfrom review to finalization.
  • Edits, proofreads, formats, and troubleshoots documents across multiple formats (Word, PDF, Excel).
  • Maintains a comprehensive archive of all National Minutes and Policies.

Process Oversight

  • Manages the Schedule of Reviews for Commissioners Conference groups.
  • Tracks documents through various stages, ensuring deadlines are met and inconsistencies are resolved.
  • Develops timelines and contingency plans to keep processes on track.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with the Commissioners Conference Program Specialist, NHQ legal staff, national group leadership, National Business Administration Office, and the National Resource Center.
  • Responds to inquiries and provide accurate, confidential information based on deep knowledge of policies and procedures.

Administrative

  • Provides high-level administrative support to the Commissioners Conference Operations Manager.
  • Conducts research and data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Drafts professional correspondence and prepare reports for leadership review.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Proven integrity in handling confidential documents.

Exceptional editing and document comparison skills.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and formatting tools.

Familiarity with legal language and policy documentation.

Quick learner of new software and adaptable to evolving procedures.

Collaborative team player with a history of supporting complex operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree

or

at leastseven yearsof editorial experience, and administrative experience, performing a variety of progressively responsible administrative and technical support tasks with administrative support and training in an office environment,

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

May require valid state driver’s license.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to plan and conduct training/instruction classes for end users, to communicate in strong professional demeanor, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively teach and orient users in systems by developing relevant training materials.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of the information generated and used in the job.
  • Ability to become proficient with an entirely new software platform operating in an expeditious and effective manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems, to debug and troubleshoot, with an intrinsic drive to work through issues logically.
  • Proficiency in general office practices and procedures, and in providing on-point client services.
  • Proficiency in verbal, writing and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to learn The Salvation Army culture, and the philosophical underpinnings of the Commissioners Conference system itself.
