Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence (BBBSI) is the largest BBBS agency in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the nation. Our mission is to create and support mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth and strengthen communities across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
Position Overview
BBBSI is seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Advancement to lead the organizations comprehensive fundraising and advancement efforts during a period of growth and increasing impact.
Reporting to the CEO, the VP, Advancement is a senior leadership team member responsible for driving philanthropic revenue, stewarding key donor relationships, strengthening advancement infrastructure, and cultivating a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization. This role oversees a multi-million-dollar fundraising program and leads a high-performing advancement team in partnership with senior leadership and the Board.
Candidates with strong ties to the communities BBBSI serves and to Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities (Summary)
- Lead BBBSIs comprehensive advancement and fundraising strategy
- Manage and mentor the Advancement team with clear goals and accountability
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward major, principal, corporate, foundation, and government donors
- Partner with the CEO and Board to grow and diversify philanthropic revenue
- Oversee advancement operations, donor systems (Salesforce), and key performance metrics
- Serve as a visible ambassador for BBBSI with donors, partners, and community leaders
Qualifications (Summary)
- 10+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Demonstrated success securing major and institutional gifts
- Experience leading comprehensive advancement programs and large fundraising initiatives
- Proficiency with donor CRMs (Salesforce preferred)
Additional Information
- Moderate local travel required
- Occasional evening and weekend work for fundraising and special events
