Travel:Regular travel required to Albany during legislative session and across regions
NYUC is seeking a New York State Campaign Manager to lead our statewide 3-K and Pre-K
Guarantee campaign outside of New York City. This role will play a critical part in bringing home
the Governors commitments and winning additional investments, including progressive,
sustainable, and dedicated revenue to fully fund universal child care long-term.
The Campaign Manager will build and manage grassroots power across the Hudson Valley,
Long Island, and the Capital Regionmobilizing parents and would-be parents, growing our
petition base to at least 5,000 non-NYC New Yorkers, holding grassroots strategy meetings and
trainings, connecting families to press and elected officials, and organizing impactful lobby days
in Albany.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Lead and execute NYUCs statewide 3-K and Pre-K Guarantee campaign outside NYC
- Help translate the Governors child care commitments into concrete legislative and budget wins
- Support efforts to win additional demands, including progressive, sustainable, and dedicated revenue for universal child care
- Track campaign goals, timelines, and benchmarks to ensure momentum and accountability
Grassroots Organizing & Base Building
- Build and manage a strong base of parents and would-be parents across the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and Capital Region
- Grow and maintain a petition base of at least 5,000 New Yorkers outside NYC
- Recruit, train, and support parent leaders to take on public roles in the campaign
- Facilitate meetings, canvasses, phone banks, and other organizing activities
Legislative & Albany Engagement
- Travel regularly to Albany during legislative session days
- Organize and support lobby days, rallies, and legislative visits
- Coordinate constituent meetings with state legislators and administration officials
- Work closely with coalition partners to align strategy and actions
Coalition & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with allied organizations, labor partners, and community groups across regions
- Represent NYUC in coalition spaces and regional meetings as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in community organizing, political campaigns, or issue-based advocacy
- Strong commitment to universal child care and racial, gender, and economic justice
- Proven experience building and mobilizing grassroots bases
- Comfort engaging directly with parents, caregivers, and would-be parents
- Experience organizing lobby days, legislative visits, or direct actions
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to travel regularly and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed – we are committed to ensuring a 5 day or 40 hour work week and will work with you to make sure you can take time off, as the campaign allows.
