Position Summary

The Rochester Ecology Partners Nature-based Program Assistant is responsible for various tasks that support the nature-based learning and community-building efforts of the organization, as well as general administrative tasks as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Nature-Based Learning Programming(60%)

  • Co-lead nature-based lessons and activities for students ages 318 on school grounds and during off-site field studies.
  • Support the design, preparation, and facilitation of engaging nature-based learning activities.
  • Foster a joyful, inclusive, and curiosity-driven learning environment outdoors.
  • Assist with adapting lessons and materials to meet diverse learner needs and environmental conditions.
  • Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school partners to support program goals

Community-Building Events(30%)

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing public community events and organizational gatherings.
  • Help execute Rochester Ecology Partners internal community-building activities.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including evenings and Saturdays as needed.
  • Contribute to communication, outreach, and marketing efforts to promote programs and events.
  • Engage community members and partners to strengthen participation and awareness of Rochester Ecology Partners and its activities

General administrative support (10%)

  • Collaborate with staff to organize, inventory, and maintain educational equipment and program spaces.
  • Prepare, update, and manage program materials and documentation.
  • Support data entry, record-keeping, and general office tasks that enhance program operations.
  • Cleaning and organization of office space and program materials

Work Environment / Expectations

  • Work is scheduled between 20 and 40 hours (to be discussed in the interview)
  • Evening and weekend work will be required occasionally
  • New hires are expected to undergo a background check
  • Outdoor work will be required in a variety of weather conditions year-round

Compensation

  • $17.00 $19.00/ hr
