Second City Canine Rescue (SCCR) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is largely volunteer operated. We are dedicated to serving homeless animals and placing them into permanent, loving homes. While we have a facility that serves as our headquarters and Adoption Center in Palatine, IL, the majority of our dogs reside in temporary foster homes. We believe in “Rescuing Responsibly”.
Role Description
This is a full-time, hybrid role for an Executive Director at Second City Canine Rescue. The Executive Director will oversee the organization’s operations, programs, and strategic planning while ensuring the mission and core values of the organization are upheld. Responsibilities include managing staff and volunteers, building and maintaining partnerships, driving fundraising initiatives, overseeing budgets and financial planning and serving as a liaison to the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Executive Director will serve as a key representative for the organization and manage external and internal relationships to enhance its presence and reach.
Qualifications
- Executive leadership and team management skills, including experience in leading teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and goals.
- Ability to convey a vision of SCCR’s strategic future to staff, volunteers and donors.
- Fundraising experience and donor relationship management skills
- Financial management and budgeting expertise
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and engagement abilities
- Passion for animal welfare and nonprofit management
- Experience in the animal rescue or nonprofit sector is a plus
