Location:Remote

Compensation:$1,000/month to $1,5000/month retainer, with opportunity to review retainer amount after the initial 3-month trial period based on performance and scope

About Addis Jemari

Addis Jemari is a nonprofit organization serving orphaned and vulnerable children and impoverished families in Ethiopia through education, economic empowerment, and holistic care. We are seeking a creative, organized Social Media Coordinator to manage and grow our online presence through compelling storytelling and consistent, high-quality content.

Role Overview

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for planning, creating, scheduling, and managing content across Addis Jemaris social media platforms. This role requires strong visual storytelling skills, comfort with Canva and short-form video, and an understanding of nonprofit or mission-driven communications.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage a monthly content calendar
    • Create branded Canva graphics and visual content
    • Write engaging captions aligned with organizational voice and messaging
    • Edit and publish short-form video/Reels
    • Schedule and publish posts across platforms (Instagram and Facebook primarily, with some X and LinkedIn)
    • Monitor comments and messages and flag engagement opportunities or concerns
    • Track basic analytics and provide a monthly performance summary
    • Collaborate with AJ leadership on campaign promotions and fundraising initiatives for social media content planning
    • Support major campaigns and events (Giving Tuesday, End of Year Campaign, Night of New Beginnings, mission trips, etc.)
  • Proactively engage with relevant nonprofit, partner, and supporter accounts to increase reach and follower growth
  • Implement engagement strategies including comment interactions and story engagement to support audience growth
  • Track follower growth and engagement trends and recommend content and posting strategy adjustments to improve performance
  • Meet monthly content and engagement deliverables outlined in the retainer agreement

Required Skills

    • Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, nonprofit, or organization
    • Strong Canva design skills
    • Experience creating and editing short-form video content (Reels)
    • Ability to write clear, compelling captions
    • Highly organized and deadline-driven
    • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
    • Familiarity with Meta Business Suite or scheduling tools
    • Ability to follow and maintain brand messaging and brand guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
    • Understanding of storytelling for fundraising and community engagement
    • Photography or video editing experience (bonus)
