ABOUT New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund
New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund (NYAGV) empowers youth and communities to advance safety, healing, and violence prevention through education, advocacy, and community-based engagement. NYAGV supports individuals and families impacted by gun violence by increasing access to resources, services, and community-driven pathways to healing.
ABOUT THE ROLE
NYAGV is seeking aPart-Time Community Resource Coordinatorto plan and supportthree community-based victim resource eventsone each in theBronx, Brooklyn, and Queensbetween January and September.
This role focuses ontrauma-informed event coordination and outreachto individuals and families impacted by gun violence, including survivors and tertiary victims.
Events will prioritize access to information, referrals, and supportive spaces that promote emotional wellness and community connection.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Coordination & Implementation
- Plan and support the execution ofthree victim-services-aligned community events(resource fairs, healing gatherings, or outreach activations)
- Coordinate logistics including venues, schedules, vendors, partners, and materials
- Ensure events aretrauma-informed, culturally responsive, and accessible
Victim Services Navigation & Referrals
- As a part of outreach and organizing for events, provide resource navigation and referrals related to victim compensation, mental health providers, legal services, housing resources, and other supportive services.
- Assist participants with sign-ups, intake forms, and follow-up connections as appropriate
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Maintain relationships with community-based organizations and service providers
- Conduct targeted outreach for events in neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by gun violence
Data, Documentation & Reporting
- Track event attendance, participant demographics, and services accessed
- Provide brief written summaries and follow-up notes to internal staff and partners
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Experience supporting individuals or communities impacted by trauma, violence, or loss
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage event-based projects
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends
- Comfort working in community-based settings (schools, parks, housing developments, faith-based spaces)
Preferred
- Experience in victim advocacy, community outreach, social services, public health, or violence prevention
WORK STRUCTURE
- Hybrid role with remote planning and in-person community events
- Travel across NYC boroughs required
- Ability to support light physical setup for events (tables, supplies)
