About the Organization:

Swaniti Initiative aims to strengthen public service delivery by working with state and local governments across South Asia with a strong focus on India. Our interventions have included strengthening scheme implementation by identifying current gaps and limitations, providing research support to Honble Members of Parliament about best practices in moving forward, and developing data-technology tools that can back decision-making processes. At present, along with working with 200+ Hon’ble Members of Parliamentarians for policy making, are working as advisors to state governments to ensure the delivery of schemes to the last mile. Major verticals of our work are climate and sustainability, social protection, and livelihood.

Job Summary:

We are currently looking for Finance Specialist to support financial operations across multiple projects with a potential to influence policy-level decision-making. This role goes beyond conventional accounting responsibilities it offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that drive national-level impact, particularly in the areas of sustainable development and climate action. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in accounting systems, an eye for accuracy, and the capacity to engage with cross-functional teams. The role demands a proactive problem-solver with excellent coordination and communication skills who is enthusiastic about aligning financial processes with broader project and policy goals.

Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other teams
    • Responsible for Day to day accounting work including purchase and sale entries, petty cash handling, vouchers & bill filing, bank work and other accounting related work
    • Ensuring the processes and documentation are compliant with various statutory audit needs (for eg. Income Tax, GST, TDS, 80G, 12A, FCRA, etc) and filing returns as required for compliance.
    • Finalization of balance sheet, income and expenditures, receipts and payments.
    • Experience of financial reporting and technical accounting experience in US GAAP.
    • Daily maintenance and updating of budget MIS
    • Preparing utilization statements and keeping track record of debit and credit transactions
    • Maintaining documentation for expenditure verification and audits as per project and internal requirements
    • Coordinating with CA and auditors as required for project audits and external audits if any.
    • Serving as the main point of contact for all financial audits
    • Coordinating with implementing teams and the Board of Trustees for accounting and finance related work
    • Work allocation and management of the accounts team
    • Preparing and sharing periodic updates on the finances of the organization to the Board
    • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
    • Any other accounting related work assign by the Management.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

    • Bachelors degree with 5+ years related experience.
    • Proficient in Excel, Tally ERP-9 & QuickBooks
    • Enthusiasm to take up challenges and lead from the front.
    • Candidate should be flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and an energetic team player
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other teams
