POSITION DESCRIPTION
The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is a member organization that is currently seeking a candidate for the position of Associate Director of Marketing and Membership. This is a manager-in-training position.
This employee oversees the Marketing and Membership Departments and works collaboratively with staff to promote the AAFCS and its programs and services. This individual will be expected to manage one or more staff, lead projects and programs, travel two or more times per year, present at stakeholder events, attend Board meetings and AAFCS in person events, and engage with customers and stakeholders.
This full-time position will work remotely and will report to the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelors degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or similar. Or bachelors degree and six or more years of experience in communications and membership relations.
At least three years of experience in membership relations and at least two years of experience in marketing is preferred.
Skillful in social media platforms and online design (photo and/or video) tools, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, Google Workspace, and/or Association Management Systems (AMS) with the affinity to learn new software and systems. Familiarity with Association Anywhere, Higher Logic, Mailchimp, Sprout Social, and/or Salesforce is preferred.
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to compose, edit, and deliver high quality communications.
Experience in anticipating deadlines and handling multiple, competing priorities to meet
concurrent deadlines.
Ability to work well both individually and as a team member.
Sound judgment and honesty with a commitment to a transparent style of organizational culture. Knowledge of SEO/SEM and analytics is preferred. Experience developing and overseeing implementation of marketing campaigns is preferred.
