A Special Olympics D.C. Community Outreach Director supports community-based programming by identifying Special Olympics D.C. programming needs and connecting those opportunities by engaging community leaders, corporate and civic organizations, ensuring premier competition campaign experiences for the athletes.

Essential Duties:

  • Build capacity by connecting and engaging the community to all aspects of programming campaigns
  • Develop sport calendars and conduct sports training and competitions
  • Develop Games Management Committees (GMTs) to lead the development of program campaigns and fundraising campaign efforts
  • Recruit athletes, coaches, unified partners, and volunteers
  • Work with professional sports teams and sport governing bodies to develop and implement sport clinics, training, and community outreach opportunities for athletes and coaches

Experience building partnerships with community organizations required.
