TheCampaign Organizeris responsible for organizing directly impacted people to engage in transformative campaigns that demand meaningful policy change and invest in community-led solutions. This includes campaigns focused on voting rights, healthcare justice, parole reform, jail closure, and reentry support. The role blends grassroots organizing, political education, and base-building to cultivate leadership among Black women and other justice-impacted individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Strategy & Policy Advocacy
- Develop and implement campaign strategies aligned with Women on the Rise’s focus on combating the carceral system and its disproportionate impact on Black women
- Support policy campaigns addressing issues such as employment barriers, jail expansion, and criminal legal system reform
- Research and analyze policy opportunities that advance justice for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women
- Base-Building & Community Organizing
- Recruit and mobilize justice-impacted women and community supporters to participate in campaigns and advocacy efforts.
- Organize community events, meetings, and actions to build grassroots power and engagement
- Develop relationships with justice-impacted individuals and provide platforms for their voices in policy work
- Cross-Sector Collaboration:
- Partner with other organizations, community groups, and institutions to advance shared campaign goals.
- Collaborate with Fulton County Behavioral Health and Grady Hospital partners on reentry-related advocacy
- Collaborate closely with policy staff and directly impacted members to gather and analyze community stories, data, and lived experiences, and synthesize them into clear, concrete policy demands and recommendations that can be advanced through legislative, administrative, and institutional advocacy.
- Data Tracking & Reportingt:
- Monitor campaign progress by tracking key benchmarks such as participation levels, decision-maker responses, media coverage, and policy movement, and systematically document outcomes of advocacy effortsincluding wins, setbacks, and lessons learnedto inform ongoing strategy, evaluation, and reporting to members, partners, and funders.
- Monitor member and volunteer participation in campaign activities, including turnout at events, actions, and trainings. Maintain accurate records in our tracking systems to assess engagement over time and inform strategy, outreach, and leadership development.
- Track, document, and share key campaign milestones, including policy wins, narrative shifts, and growth in member engagement and leadership. Produce clear reports and updates that highlight campaign impact for members, partners, funders, and the broader community.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate deep alignment with Women on the Rises mission, vision, and values
- Commitment to ending mass incarceration & centering the leadership of directly impacted women
- Advancing community-led solutions rooted in dignity, healing, and justice.
- At least three years of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating campaigns
- Strong skills in facilitating group discussions and political education spaces, communicating clearly with diverse audiences, and building trusting, long-term relationships with directly impacted people, partners, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and relationships in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences
- Digital Organizing & Tech Proficiency: Proficiency with digital organizing and communication tools (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom, peer-to-peer texting platforms, basic CRM or database systems, and social media), with the ability to learn new tools as needed to support campaigns and membership engagement.
Work Environment & Schedule
