Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, Management or Development, or a related field is required. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For th is job opening, English and Arabic are required.   • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area is required. Experience in providing politically-informed advice on transitional justice-related issues in peace processes, and/or working with transitional justice mechanisms in a (post-)conflict context is required. Experience engaging and consulting with victims/survivors in conflict-affected contexts is required. Experience engaging with senior policymakers and/or conflict party representatives on political issues including transitional justice in a (post-)conflict environment is required. Experience undertaking political context analys is and stakeholder mapping in conflict contexts is required. Work experience in the political process in Yemen, with demonstrated familiarity with Yemeni political actors, conflict dynamics and the UN-led peace process, is desirable.
