POSITION TITLE: Facilities Assistant

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager of Operations

STATUS: Full-time, essential

LOCATION: Washington, DC

SALARY: 42,000-44,000

SUMMARY:Facilities Assistant helps maintain a building or facility by performing both maintenance and administrative duties, including cleaning, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and assisting with repairs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and functions include, but are not limited to the following:

80 % Janitorial and Building Upkeep:

  • Cleaning: Cleaning common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces.
  • Grounds Keeping: Maintaining the grounds, including mowing lawns, removing snow, and ensuring a clean, well-kept appearance.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining essential systems like plumbing and lighting and performing routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Inventory: Taking inventory of supplies and goods and delivering reorder requests to the Facilities Manager.
  • Set-up/Teardown: Assisting with setting up and breaking down rooms for meetings and events.
  • Building Inspections: Performing daily walkthroughs to ensure all areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Coordination: Coordinating with outside vendors for larger repairs and maintenance projects.

10% Assisting Senior Operations Manager

  • Office Moves: Assisting with installing, delivering, and moving furniture.
  • Assist with vendor visits and collection of invoices

10%Other duties as assigned

  • Other duties assigned from the Senior Operations Manager and or CEO

REQUIREMENTS

    • High School Diploma/GED/certification desired.
    • 5+ years building maintenance and janitorial experience
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to sustain good working relationships with staff and program participants
    • Good oral communication skills.
    • Organized
    • Ability to lift, climb stairs and ladders
    • Frequently walk short distances
    • Stand for sustained periods of time
    • Frequently bend or twist at the neck or torso, grip tools, etc.
    • Occasionally reach, stoop, kneel and crouch
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • An active member in a local Christian church. Agreement with Missions Statement of Faith is required.
