Welcome.US is a national, non-partisan initiative dedicated to inspiring, mobilizing, and empowering Americans and institutions across the country to support newcomers seeking refuge and help them thrive. Our mission is to unleash the desire and capacity of people across America to welcome newcomers and ensure they can build stable, fulfilling lives in their new communities. Our vision is a nation where strong, welcoming communities are upheld by durable policies and a shared culture of belonging.

Born out of the urgent humanitarian response to global crises, Welcome.US has grown into the broadest welcoming coalition in American history bringing together citizens, community organizations, private sector partners, and local leaders to forge a movement rooted in service and opportunity. By empowering Americans to serve, share stories, and act together, we are transforming how the United States welcomes newcomers and driving toward lasting systems, policy, and cultural change.

In just a few years, millions of Americans from every background have participated in acts of welcome, strengthening communities from coast to coast. Today, Welcome.US continues to build a nationwide network of Welcomers, equipping them with the tools, partnerships, and opportunities needed to support newcomers, influence leaders, and expand welcoming capacity in every state.

ABOUT THE WELCOMER COMMUNITY BUILDING & ENGAGEMENT TEAM

The Community Building & Engagement team at Welcome.US equips American Welcomers across the country with information, resources, and opportunities to help newcomers thrive in their communities. As these acts of Welcome benefit newcomers and host communities alike, we help Welcomers share their stories and experiences with each other and with fellow Americans, growing the national movement of Welcome.

This team works closely with the Welcome Fund, Policy, and Marketing & Communications teams to equip Welcomers with everything they need to continue their work of welcoming. Initiatives include facilitating Welcomer Communities to help Welcomers connect with each other and provide policy updates, micro-grants, and other resources to help them support the newcomers theyve welcomed and raise awareness about welcoming in their communities. This team is also responsible for launching and maintaining our new volunteer initiative, pairing trained American volunteers with newcomers on their pathway to becoming new US citizens. Throughout the year, we also provide a wide range of awareness-raising and engagement opportunities to support the growth and nurturing of our Welcomer community.
