The Race Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the annual Ellens Run, a signature

fundraising event of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, raising awareness about breast cancer. The

event, our 31st annual 5K, will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 in Southampton, NY. Named Dans

Papers Best of the Best for many years running, the Run attracts 900+ runners, raising over $120,000

for early breast cancer detection, treatment and lifesaving education programs on the East End of Long

Island.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a written detailed task-timeline/work plan with Executive Director, revised as
  • needed and continually updated when tasks are completed.
  • Serve as liaison with Elite Feats, the race timing company.
  • Manage inventory, purchase and distribute all materials, including but not limited to race shirts,
  • SWAG bag items, and awards items.
  • Coordinate logistics with key partners, including but not limited toPD and FD, Southampton Hospital
  • Emergency Services, and venue management at Southampton Middle School; and maps race course.
  • Assist Race teams and individual participants in their fundraising efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with race management and logistics, a must
  • Knowledge of Southampton and its environs, an advantage
  • Local/commutable housing during the months of May-August, a plus
  • Applicants must have proven communication and leadership skills necessary for successful
  • fulfillment of key responsibilities
  • Associates Degree, with BA/BS degree preferred

Reports to the Executive Director. A part-time, seasonal position (May 1 August 31), estimated @ 10-hours/week: May July; 20 hours/week, including evening and occasional weekend meetings, and longer hours during race preparation week and race day. Compensation is based on experience. The Ellen Hermanson Foundation is an EOE.
