POSITION SUMMARY
The development director works with a dynamic staff and volunteer boards to retain, cultivate, and expand a growing base of donors. The person in this role will be familiar with raising funds at all giving levels and understand the importance of building lasting and authentic relationships with the people and organizations who fund the USCPRs work. The development director will also be responsible for annual planning and goal-setting and compiling data on giving trends and using metrics to improve fundraising operations.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the planning, organizing, and implementation of all of USCPR and USCPRA fundraising.
- Maintain gift recognition and stewardship programs for all donor levels
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan and calendar (in coordination with the development and communication teams, executive director, and board fundraising committee).
- Lead development team and fundraising committee in planning and development of new strategies to grow USCPR and USCPRA revenue.
- Lead grant seeking, including managing existing relations, cultivating new relations with foundations, and drafting proposals and reports.
- Manage the major gifts program, including identification, solicitation, cultivation, stewardship and the compilation of donor profiles.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of an annual report.
- Maintain and strengthen our planned giving program with focus on deferred gifts like bequests.
- Manage the fundraising database and oversee data entry, gift processing, and donor follow up.
- Lead the implementation of fundraising special events, including identification of hosts and target areas, recruitment, and event specifics.
- Develop and coordinate donor prospecting and outreach activities to diversify USCPR and USCPRA donor constituencies and convert new supporters into donors.
- Serve as staff representative on USCPR and USCPRA boards and related fundraising committees and work with them to set t board fundraising tasks and goals.
- Lead monitoring and evaluation for all fundraising programs.
- Build and maintain a team of volunteers to support fundraising efforts.
- Work closely with the operations team and executive director in the creation of the annual budget, especially revenue projections.
- Oversee management of the database and supporter list in conjunction with the communications team.
- Review all printed and online development materials, appeals, and campaigns.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience, including at least three years in managerial roles. Experience with 501(c)(4) fundraising is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience planning major gifts programs and managing relationships with foundations.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage complex projects, and drive organizational growth. Demonstrated experience in coaching staff and teammates while fostering a culture of feedback, accountability, and excellence.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and mobilize staff and donors towards our vision, lead conversations towards solid decisions, and resolve conflict when necessary.
- Deep understanding of and commitment to the Palestinian struggle for freedom and its intersection with other justice and liberation movements.
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used in fundraising.
- Willingness and ability to travel required.
