Whether or not you grew up in 4-H, you are invited to join a great team working with incredible 4-H educators across NYS to support young lives and healthy communities. The work of a 4-H Program Educator includes a wide range of programming opportunities with 4-H youth, clubs, and volunteers as well as coordinating youth mentoring partnerships, and in-school and after-school programming.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or equivalent education (Bachelors degree with four (4) years transferable relevant evidence-based research experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Drivers License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with 4-H Positive Youth Development and Beyond Ready Resources.
  • Familiarity with 4-H club structure, Agriculture in the Classroom, STEAM, youth wellness programs, animal husbandry, and show presence at county/state agricultural fairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach youth, individuals, and groups (ages 5-19).
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, organize and support volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize reference materials for programming purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual means.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan for and lead large community events.
  • Familiarity with Essex County and town areas, and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize program resources within the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal education programs through a variety of program delivery methods to reach individuals and groups, including adults and youth.
