Position Overview

The Grant Writer is a key member of Vista Del Mars Grants team and is responsible for supporting all aspects of institutional fundraising including research, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship management to meet annual fundraising goals. The Grant Writer will build strong partnerships with corporate and foundation funders, collaborate across departments to identify funding opportunities, and design and write compelling proposals that demonstrate the transformative impact of Vista Del Mars programs and services.

This is afull time hybrid (on-site & remote)position.

Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned):

  • Support the Director of Grants and Foundation Relations in designing and implementing a multi-year institutional fundraising strategy that meets Vistas revenue goals;
  • Research, identify, and evaluate potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors that align with Vistas programs and priorities;
  • Partner with departments across the organization to gather data, success stories, and program outcomes to craft compelling grant proposals and reports;
  • Manage the entire grant lifecycle for select funders, including concept development, proposal writing, submission, reporting, and compliance;
  • Collaborate with finance staff in preparing budgets and financial reports for grants;
  • Maintain accurate records of all grant requests, awards, deadlines, and correspondence with funders.
  • Monitor grant progress by tracking reporting deadlines, preparing interim reports, and ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with program officers and foundation representatives through regular communication, impact reporting, and site visits;
  • Write and edit other development-related materials as needed.

What you bring to VDM:

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience as a grant writer.
  • Proven track record of securing grant awards and cultivating relationships with funders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support.
  • Experience creating and managing grant budgets, monitoring expenditures, and collaborating with finance team to ensure accurate reporting to funding partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into donor-facing impact stories.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and research tools such as Foundation Directory Online.
  • Existing connections to institutional funders in Los Angeles County preferred

The final compensation offered will be based on the candidates experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Salary Range:$60,000.00 – $80,000.00 annually
