The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking a detail-oriented professional for the position of Government Relations Assistant. The Government Relations Assistant will join a talented and high-performing team responsible for USGLCs engagement with Congress on Americas role in the world and how strategic investments in diplomacy and international assistance, alongside a strong military, strengthen U.S. national security and our economic interests. The position will report to the Director of Government Relations and is based in Washington, D.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advocacy and Engagement with Congress.Responsibilities include:
    • Work with Government Relations teammates to build and maintain relationships with Congressional offices
    • Monitor Congressional hearings and events
    • Draft, send, and track invitations to Members of Congress and Congressional staff for USGLC events and meetings
    • Assist with preparation and execution of advocacy days and events on Capitol Hill
  • Research and Analysis.Responsibilities include:
    • Research and report on relevant interests, legislative actions, and activities by Members of Congress
    • Draft documents for internal and external use, including event summaries, hearing memos, and Capitol Hill correspondence
  • Administrative and Data Support.Responsibilities include:
    • Track USGLC interactions with Members of Congress
    • Draft agendas, take notes, and compile weekly summaries of internal events and meetings
    • Maintain databases, spreadsheets, and calendars via Outlook and Quorum
    • Lead data-collection and data-entry of Congressional engagements on behalf of Government Relations and Outreach Teams

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in public policy, government relations, foreign policy, international relations or a similar subject or commensurate experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Capitol Hill and Congressional or campaign experience is a plus.
    • Strong legislative research, writing, and communication skills.
    • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-moving and exciting political and policy environment.
    • Able to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects at once, handling tasks expeditiously and proactively.
  • Experience with Quorum, Leadership Directories, CQ, and Microsoft Office Suite products.
