About the Organization
VietLead is a grassroots organization in Philadelphia and South Jersey that is creating a vision and strategy for community self-determination, social justice, and cultural resilience. We are staffed and led by community members with collectively over 25 years serving our community and are committed to working from love and solidarity. Our programs include youth organizing, health navigation & healing, civic engagement, and community defense. We do this through a Heal.Resist.Grow. framework that focuses on a pathway to healing trauma in our communities, contesting for power to make systemic change, policy advocacy/campaign, and growing community-based solutions.
Position Overview
The Civic Empowerment Member Organizer reports directly to the Membership Director to plan and implement activities of the civic engagement program (such as field aspects like voter registration, phone-banking, door knocking, and text banking), building out their skills in holding base relationships, conduct continuous assessments, and oversee program administration.
Responsibilities

Owning(take ownership of tasks & do the heavy liftingresponsible for the success or failure):
- Coordinate the CE outreach program planning and execution (the field program entailing creation of programming timeline, outlining goals, implementing tactics, and tracking progress)
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training
- Coordinate the CE administrative tasks (record-keeping and generating end-of-season reports)
- Implement 2-3 of the Programs Base Building Activity Projects including logistical planning
- Hold at least 8 Base Relationships within community engagement towards membership and within a committee
- Maintain 2-3 tactical partnerships
- Maintain the organization of physical program materials in the Philadelphia Office
- Maintain the organization of digital program materials in Data Storage Systems
Helping(support with parts of the task while training up to own):
- Program Social Media: help with documentation of program activities and milestones for sharing to comms platforms
- Cultivate a healthy program culture of joy, support, celebration, and shared planning of staff hang-out events
- Write program reflections (Post-program season debriefs, Grant Reports)
- Integrate campaign development into program
- Incorporate narrative strategy tactics into program
- Mediate conflict between base members
Required Qualifications
Must have experience working with immigrant, of-color and/or vulnerable communities. Minimum two years experience of full-season operation.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible work schedule (some evenings and weekends required);
- Current drivers license and a clear driving record;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment with proven leadership skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently;
- Demonstrated ability for maintaining organized work materials and record-keeping
Preferred Qualifications
Vietnamese language fluency is a plus but not required. Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience, excellent listening, verbal, and writing communication skills, experience working effectively with working-class Vietnamese immigrants, commitment to social and economic justice, and knowledge of issues affecting working-class immigrants in Philadelphia. Proficiency with google drive tools is required (e.g. google drive, docs, sheets). Must be able to stretch, bend, kneel, twist, squat, reach above or below the shoulder, push, grasp, and lift up to 25 pounds. Able to walk, drive, write, stand, and sit.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position will work out of VietLeads Philadelphia office at 320 Oregon Ave and at various partner sites and community locations; Hybrid work schedule of 2-3 days in-person / 2-3 days work from home contingent on in-person programming schedule and activities; able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Employment Terms
This is a Non-Exempt full time position at 32 hours per week. The estimated hourly rate is $25/hr-$31/hr, equivalent to an annual income range of $41,600-$51,584, commensurate with experience.
