Duties and Responsibilities
Summary: The Land Surveyor supports UNISFAs infrastructure projects by providing precise geospatial data, conducting topographical and boundary surveys, and producing accurate maps essential for project planning and execution. This role involves field measurements, data processing, and collaboration with engineers and construction supervisors, Equipment Operators, and manual workers teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed topographic and boundary surveys for camps, roads, facilities, and utilities.
- Prepare geo-referenced survey maps, profiles, and reports using tools like AutoCAD, GIS, Infraworks, and Global Mapper.
- Record terrain data including elevations, contours, and land features.
- Assist in site layout, setting construction boundaries, and verifying project design alignments.
- Engage junior survey staff and collaborate with external surveyors.
- Maintain an updated digital database of all survey records.
- Assist with elevation of grounds and L profile section for the construction/repair of roads, drainage and helipad works
- Provide regular progress reports and recommend solutions to survey challenges.
- Support emergency survey needs and contributes to cost estimates for survey-related works.
- Perform such other tasks as assigned by Chief Engineer
Qualifications/special skills
Bachelors degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering with formal surveying training.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying and infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in modern surveying equipment and software (AutoCAD, GIS, etc.).
- Prior UN or international field experience is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in spoken and written English is required.
