amfAR is seeking a Data Analyst (Biostatistician / Web Developer) for a full-time, on-site position in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, modeling, and interpreting data to support ongoing HIV/AIDS research initiatives. Key responsibilities include developing statistical models, conducting data analysis, creating visualizations, and maintaining web-based tools for data reporting. The role also involves working closely with cross-functional teams to communicate findings and deliver insights that influence research strategies and initiatives.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Designs and conducts quantitative analyses for the Public Policy Office
- Builds and maintains office databases
- Supports presentations with partner organizations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide statistical support to PPO team for health policy analyses to inform advocacy efforts, policy reports, or academic publications
- Support re-development of existing PPO databases using python, javascript, and MySQL
- Work with the PPO team to develop future innovative projects that may require statistical and/or database support
- Strong Analytical Skills and Data Analytics expertise for evaluating intricate datasets and deriving actionable insights
- Proficiency in Statistics and Data Modeling for predictive analysis and advanced statistical computation
- Excellent Communication skills to effectively share findings with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with web development technologies for maintaining and improving data reporting tools
- Strong proficiency in both a stats package (R/STATA/SAS/SPSS) and python and javascript programming languages required
- Ability to work collaboratively within a research-driven team environment
- Attend domestic and global convenings as needed
- Complete other relevant projects, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or demonstrated background in biostatistics, economics, general statistics, or mathematics is required, as well as knowledge of standard statistical software packages (STATA, SAS, SPSS or R). Database programming skills highly preferred (Python, MySQL, Postgre, MSSQL, etc), as well as experience with website development software (Django, PHP, HTML, Javascript). Familiarity with Linux encouraged. Healthcare or public health experience desired, but not necessary.
