Summary: Are you a passionate veterinary student looking to make a meaningful impact on animal welfare? Join us at the ASPCA as our Student Ambassador at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University become a vital part of our mission to improve the lives of animals across the nation and in the field of veterinary medicine. This role will connect you with peers, mentors, and professionals working in animal welfare while allowing you to champion the ASPCA’s initiatives. As an ASPCA Student Ambassador, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing our organizational goals by engaging and educating fellow students about our work, conducting peer-to-peer outreach to engage more students with the ASPCA, providing information on ASPCA externships and other student resources, and helping provide logistical support on your campus. The Veterinary Student Ambassador must be comfortable working autonomously, while also knowing when and how to seek input and guidance from the team. To succeed in this role, the Ambassador will enjoy making connections with fellow students and sharing information about the ASPCA. Application deadline: March 12, 2026 at 11:59pm EST Target Hire Date: Mid- to Late- March 2026 start Location: Brookville, NY at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Student Ambassador opportunities may include, but shall not be limited to: Serve as a dedicated representative of the ASPCA at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University Stay informed about all student externship opportunities and resources offered by the ASPCA Build and nurture relationships with fellow veterinary medicine students and student groups on campus Act as a resource for fellow students seeking to learn more about the ASPCA, including our work, veterinary training externship opportunities, resources, and future career pathways Act as a point of contact and liaison to provide information regarding upcoming campus events and other opportunities the ASPCA could collaborate with to the ASPCA Director, Campus Relations, Extended Workforce Assist in the logistical planning and executing of events on campus (e.g., conferences, career fairs, etc.) and with student groups (e.g., workshops, presentations, lunch and learns, etc.) Present opportunities to student groups and foster engagement and attendance through promoting upcoming events Develop written communications about the ASPCA and upcoming events for students Maintain academic excellence and a focus on your education Know and abide by the rules and all policies for your school Exemplifies the ASPCAs Core Values: Has Commitment and dedication to improving the lives of animals Demonstrates Ownership and feels responsible for outcomes Believes in Team that we are stronger together Seeks to Elevate others and reimagine what is possible Focuses on Impact, specifically making change for animals Qualifications: In good academic standing Strong belief in the Mission and Core Values of the ASPCA Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with peers Active membership in at least one student group related to the core work of the ASPCA (e.g., shelter medicine, animal welfare, DEI-focused group, forensics, etc.) Not currently a student ambassador for another veterinary or animal welfare organization, non-profit, or company Ability to dedicate an average of 3 hours a week during the semester to fulfilling the responsibilities of an ASPCA Veterinary Student Ambassador Ability to work independently (self-starter) High level of maturity and professionalism Access to a computer for virtual meetings and email correspondence Ability to temporarily store informational and promotional items to be passed out on campus to peers Language: English (required) Education and Work Experience: Open to candidates currently enrolled as a veterinary student at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University. Individuals not currently enrolled in this educational program will not be considered. Preference will be given to candidates in their 1st through 3rd years of education. Additional Information/Details: Start: Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until March 9, 2026 at 11:59 pm EST for a mid- to late- March 2026 start. Duration: Two semesters in length; potential to extend.
