The China Office is part of the Global Policy and Advocacy (GPA) Division. The mission of the Division is to understand and shape the public policies affecting the foundation’s work, build support for its major program and policy objectives, and develop partnerships and alliances that can advance the foundation’s objectives nationally and globally. Because the foundation’s resources alone are not enough to solve the challenges ahead, GPA also supports advocacy efforts to engage diverse stakeholders and promote innovative solutions that advance our program goals. We work in close partnership with grantees, our colleagues in the Global Health, Global Development, Global Growth & Opportunity, and Gender Equality programs and Foundation Communications to build the environment in which all people have the opportunity to lead healthy and productive lives. Application Deadline: 13/3/2026 Your Role The Health Innovation & Partnership (HIP) team is recruiting a 24-month Limited-Term Program Officer (PO) to support innovation scouting and industrial engagement across its health innovation portfolios. Chinas industrial ecosystem presents unique opportunities to advance the Foundations priorities beyond disease-specific product development, including: Self-care solutions Long-acting drug formulations Low-cost manufacturing approaches relevant to low- and middle-income country (LMIC) markets This role will provide cross-portfolio support by: Conducting industry analysis Identifying and exploring strategic partnership opportunities Supporting the design and implementation of new initiatives Collaborating closely with internal teams, external partners, and vendors This position reports to the Deputy Director, Health, Innovation & Partnership, China Country Office. What You’ll Do Innovation Scouting: Conduct industrial and market landscape analyses to identify opportunities aligned with foundation priorities across diagnostics, vaccines, drugs, nutrition, and vector control. Industrial Engagement: Support engagement with domestic biopharmaceutical companies, suppliers, and industry influencers; contribute to advocacy and coalition-building efforts such as CEO roundtables. Strategy Implementation: Work with internal stakeholders and external consultants to develop and execute implementation plans for approved strategy initiatives; track progress and report on outcomes. Cross-Team Collaboration: Provide analytical and coordination support to multiple program and functional team members with various expertise and backgrounds. Your Experience Experience working in management consulting, corporate strategy, business development, or venture capital, with demonstrated industry analysis or partnership-building experience. Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, public health, or related field preferred; MBA or dual training is valued. Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners in a matrixed environment. Strong quantitative analysis skills. Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills for communicating with a broad and diverse audience. Strong knowledge of project management. Other Attributes Fluency in English and Chinese required. Willingness to travel up to 30%. Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
