Find out more about us and our purpose. Your Opportunity: The Transition to Work program helps young people aged between 15 to 24 transition to work or ongoing education. The program has a strong focus on providing support to those who have left school early, or who are having difficulty finding work after school, and helping them to develop the skills and confidence they need to move into work or ongoing education. The Youth Employment Mentor is based in Kempsey and acts as the point of contact for our youth programs. In the role, you will provide a mix of 1 to 1 and group support aimed at strengthening the social & emotional wellbeing of your clients. Our Mentors are active in the community and work collaboratively with Youth Employment Specialists in the areas of education, training & employment. One of the most significant barriers to employment for young people in our region is the inability to gain a drivers licenceoften due to limited access to driving lessons, supervised hours and reliable support. To help overcome this, one dedicated day each week in this role will focus on supporting young people to learn to drive. This may include supervising driving practice, building road safety awareness, supporting learners to develop confidence behind the wheel, and helping them progress towards completing their logbook hours. Your support will directly contribute to their independence, employability and long-term success. Due to the geographical area the program covers, outreach work is an essential part of the role, a Pool car will be provided for outreach work and travel will be during work time. Your key responsibilities will be to: Promote early engagement and sustained connection of youth via outreach, drop-in and non-structured interactions. Ensure young people are provided with practical support to participate and feel valued and worthy of contributing to their futures. Plan, deliver and evaluate group work sessions and provide tailored support to clients. Plan and deliver Mentor Driver support to learner drivers, to assist them in gaining on the road driving experience/logbook hours. Accurately record information in management files for all clients in line with Mission Australia protocols and program. Proactively raise concerns that affect the safety and wellbeing of children and young people engaging with MA services. Actively provide continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the quality of the program evolves. Requirements for Success: Tertiary qualifications in community services or a related discipline desirable Experience in Community Services or Employment Services is highly desirable (Jobactive, Disability Employment Services Experience with career counselling and social & emotional wellbeing support. Ability to network and keep up to date with local services that can assist participants with addressing barriers to employment Detail oriented written skill and the ability to present information and comprehensive case notes clearly and concisely. A proven track record in achieving KPIs; demonstrating resilience and managing your self-awareness and personal development. Experience working with vulnerable people and/or young people with complex needs. Experience and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural systems and protocols would be advantageous. Resilience, self-awareness and the ability to manage your own personal development and wellness. Current NSW Driving Licence Two years clean driving history Zero Demerits Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
