Full Job Description

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. Why we are recruiting We are seeking an engaged and proactive Early Career Professional to support the Forums work on Economy, Trade and Jobs in Greater China. This role will contribute to two key Centres: Centre for the New Economy and Society (70%) Focusing on economic growth, future of jobs, and human capital investment. Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics (30%) Addressing global trade, investment, and geopolitical dynamics. The role will support research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic initiatives that advance sustainable and inclusive economic development, job creation and trade policy in the Greater China region. Reporting Lines & Interactions The ECP will be based in the World Economic Forums Beijing Representative Office, reporting to Specialist, Economy, Trade and Jobs, Greater China. The candidate will work closely with both Centres and support the development and execution of projects aligned with the Forums regional and global agendas. Main responsibilities Research & Analysis (30%) Conduct desktop research on developments and trends in China and globally related to economy, trade, jobs, skills, and investment. Support scoping exercises to identify opportunities and challenges in Greater China related to sustainable economic transformation, trade innovation, and future-ready labor markets. Analyze policy developments, market trends, and industry shifts to inform Forum insights and initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination (30%) Identify and map key stakeholders from business, government, academia, and international organizations in Greater China. Support the coordination of cross-centre initiatives on jobs and skills, trade and investment topics. Assist in preparing executive briefings, meeting summaries, and stakeholder profiles. Event & Project Support (20%) Support event logistics, coordination, and preparation of pre-reading materials for Forum-led sessions in Greater China and at global events (e.g., Annual Meeting of the New Champions, Industry Summits, Saudi Meeting). Draft agendas, talking points, blogs, and communication materials to shape regional narratives. Help organize workshops, dialogues, and roundtables on economy, trade, and jobs topics. Communications & Operations (20%) Assist in preparing marketing materials, presentations, and reports in both English and Chinese. Support translation and localization of key documents to ensure accuracy and contextual relevance. Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure smooth project delivery. Preferred Requirements and Experience Educational Background: Bachelors or masters degree in Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, Business, Political Science, or related fields. Candidates with 13 years of professional or research experience are welcome. Knowledge &Experience: Familiarity with economic policy, trade dynamics, labor markets, sustainability, and/or public-private collaboration. Experience in research, business development, or stakeholder engagement is a plus. Project & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver quality outputs under time constraints. Collaboration & Communication: Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Writing & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with experience drafting reports, briefs, or analytical content. Cultural & Regional Insight: Understanding of the Greater China context and key economic, trade, and employment trends.
