Why we are recruiting The Media, Communities and Events team at the World Economic Forums Beijing Representative Office plays a central role in convening stakeholders and nurturing communities that advance the Forums mission in Greater China. We are seeking an Early Career Professional (ECP) who is intellectually curious, adaptable, and comfortable operating in evolving spaces. The role is intentionally broad and may evolve over time, offering exposure to community-building, innovation ecosystems, emerging technologies (including AI), and strategic projects that support the Forums work. Reporting Lines & Interactions The ECP will be based in the World Economic Forums Beijing Representative Office, reporting to Manager, Media, Communities and Events, Greater China. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across the Forum, as well as interaction with external stakeholders including innovators, entrepreneurs, and community members. The ECP will act as a connector, researcher, and project contributor across multiple initiatives. Main responsibilities Innovation & Horizon Scanning: Research and identify emerging trends, innovators, startups, and initiatives relevant to the Forums work in Greater China, synthesizing insights into clear and actionable inputs. Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Support the development and day-to-day operation of innovation-focused communities by assisting with outreach, engagement, and relationship-building across diverse stakeholders. AI & Digital Enablement: Contribute to internal efforts to explore and adopt AI and digital tools by researching use cases, curating insights, and supporting small-scale pilots or learning initiatives. Project Coordination & Insight Synthesis: Maintain databases and trackers, monitor engagement and activities, and prepare concise summaries, presentations, or dashboards to support decision-making. Flexible Strategic Support: Provide adaptable support on special projects and evolving priorities, demonstrating learning agility, sound judgment, and the ability to work across changing scopes. Preferred Requirements and Experience Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Liberal Arts, or any field where you cultivated a systems-thinking and innovative mindset. A voracious learner with a demonstrated passion for technology trends, artificial intelligence, and the future of work. You might follow key influencers, listen to innovation podcasts, or tinker with new tools in your own time. Exceptional communicator able to articulate complex ideas simply, both in writing and verbally. You can engage a startup founder, an internal engineer, and a business leader with equal effectiveness. Proactive networker & researcher you are not afraid to reach out to people, conduct deep-dive research, and connect dots across disparate information sources. Project-savvy & organized you can manage multiple streams of work, and drive tasks to completion with autonomy. Native-level proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English; other languages, particularly French and/ or German, an asset Bonus Points For: prior experience in a startup, incubator, or student-led innovation initiative.
