Duties and Responsibilities

The UN Secretary-General launched on 1 January 2019 a bold and new global reform which repositioned the UN Development System to deliver more effectively and efficiently with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this reform, UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the leadership of an empowered and independent UN Resident Coordinator support countries in the achievement of their development priorities and the attainment of the SDGs. This position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Thailand. The internship is UNPAID and full-time for the duration of either a minimum internship period of 3 months of full-time engagement, and 4 months for part-time. Interns work at least 35 hours per week/ 5 days a week for full-time or 2.5 days a week for part-time internship, reporting for work in the office with the possibility of remote work arrangements. This intern works under the supervision of Partnership and Development Finance Officer and will support the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO). The intern will gain first-hand experience with regard to the activities of the UN Country Team through the RCO team in facilitating dialogues with partners, including with Government, the private sector, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders, to improve development assistance policies and practice. The intern will be responsible for the following tasks: – Assist in drafting and preparing official documents and correspondence. – Develop presentations for RCO meetings and external engagements. – Produce minutes and summary reports from conferences and meetings. – Assist in the logistical and administrative preparations for RCO events. – Support social media outreach and communication efforts. – Support other ad hoc activities as deemed relevant and needed by the supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelors level or equivalent). Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter and backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Please explain how you meet this criterion using examples. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
