Position Summary
The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) and NYLCV Education Fund are seeking a New Media Manager to support our communications efforts to advance our environmental policies, elect NYLCV-endorsed candidates, raise awareness about our educational programming, and promote our work and sustainability more broadly across New York State.
Responsibilities
Among the communications functions you will be asked to perform:
Social Media (Primary Focus):
- Monitor, manage, and maintain NYLCVs social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Bluesky, and LinkedIn.
- Draft engaging and informative social media posts to promote NYLCVs mission, campaigns, events, and initiatives.
- Monitor trends and news related to environmental issues and New York politics and engage with NYLCVs partners, elected officials, and the broader online community as appropriate.
- Help develop and execute social media strategies to support advocacy campaigns, electoral work, and organizational priorities.
Content Creation & Visuals:
- Create graphics for social media and other platforms such as email banners, graphics to accompany blog posts, advocacy campaign ads, and more (NYLCV uses Canva, but experience with other platforms, including Adobe, is welcome).
- Capture photos and videos for social media and promotional purposes at events, press conferences, and rallies.
Events & Field Support:
- Attend and provide communications support for press conferences, rallies, educational events, and other public engagements organized by NYLCV and the NYLCV Education Fund, for the purposes of promoting on social media
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of full-time experience managing social media accounts for an organization.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Strong writing skills and comfort drafting content across platforms.
- Experience creating visual content for digital and social media.
- Familiarity with monitoring news, tracking media coverage, and responding to timely developments.
- Strong research skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- A strong interest in and commitment to environmental issues.

Position Details
Location:NYLCV is based in lower Manhattan, its a hybrid work environment with occasional travel (mostly within NYC, but also to Long Island and other areas of the state). Special consideration may be made for candidates based in the Capital Region
Weekly Hourly Requirements:40 hours per week
Standard Shift:9:30am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday; 2 days remote, 3 days on-site
Compensation:$60,000-$75,000 depending on experience
